I picked up the MGK album Lace Up last week. Really, my wife dropped by Best Buy and picked the album up for me (Deluxe edition, of course).

Having listened to this album multiple times, I’m very disappointed to have missed him in concert with Tech N9ne when they came through Houston earlier this year.

However, damn I love this album. I love the different styles, and yet how you can always tell when MGK is on.

D3MONS is easily my favorite track. I’m also fond of Wild Boy, Stereo, and Edge of Destruction. Really I like the entire album, but damn those tracks are killer.

The video for Wild Boy is pretty funny:

If you’re getting the album, go for the Deluxe version. Right now on Amazon the deluxe (MP3) album is $9.99. It’s $9.49 for the regular release with THREE less tracks. Deluxe is totally worth it.

Thanks to UPSMI and USPS my copy of Kickin’ and Screamin’ came in the mail on the release date (May 15)

17 tracks of win.

First I have to say, I’m not a fan of this iTunes exclusive deal with two bonus tracks (19 total). I hate iTunes, their DRM, and filetype. I would’ve purchased the two bonus tracks on Amazon if they were available, but moving on…

Krizz Kaliko brings in dubstep, a great singing voice, killer lyrics, and insane rap skills. Mix that together with Tech N9ne, T-Pain, and several other great featured artists and this album is just full of awesome.

That’s right, win and awesome.

You’ve got killer rap, party music (Abu Dhabi, Dixie Cup, Kill Shit, Spaz), serious music (Hello Walls, Stay Alive), sensual music (Species), and more. So you’re getting a good mix of serious and party on Kickin’ and Screamin’.

Without going track by track I can’t really do the album justice, and I’m not doing that, so you really need to listen yourself.

Don’t ask me how many times I’ve listened to the album since it arrived.

Grab the CD on Amazon or the MP3 Album, whichever you prefer.

¡MAYDAY! – Take Me To Your Leader was released on Monday, May 26. While I was out I decided I’d swing by Best Buy and pick up the combo, which includes Klusterfuk by Tech N9ne (produced by ¡MAYDAY!).

After searching around, I decided it was time to ask the employee that was cleaning up the disorganized CDs and avoiding eye contact with customers. He pulled the information up in the system, and there was not a single copy of the album at a Best Buy within Houston (and according to the website, there still isn’t). I checked the screen while he pulled it up, and I confirmed it online.

I purchased the album from my phone through Amazon and received it within 2 days (today), with Klusterfuk included.

I’ve listened to it a time or two and I’m loving it so far. Strange Music is pushing them out left and right, and ¡MAYDAY! with Tech N9ne makes a great combination.

Check out Badlands ft. Tech N9ne, Last Days ft. Krizz Kaliko, and 17 of other great tracks on this album (19 total, in case you missed that).

You can grab the CD through Amazon here, or if you prefer a quicker delivery, check out the MP3 Album.

For some extra fun, here’s the Badlands (ft. Tech N9ne) music video:

Did I pick up my copy of Welcome to Strangeland yesterday?

Yeah, you better believe it. I was at Best Buy before lunch and grabbed the Deluxe Edition. Welcome to Strangeland pendant included.

I meant to post something yesterday, and probably something much more elaborate, but life happens and it’s been crazy.

Loving the album so far. I Need A Drink and My Favorite are my favorite tracks so far.

Things have been so crazy that I haven’t had a chance to sit down and just listen to it all the way through like I normally do with a new album, but hopefully I’ll get that chance soon.

What did I do on my lunch break today? I ran to Best Buy. Today was the release date for Tech N9ne’s All 6’s and 7’s — Hell yes.

This album is worth every penny and then some. I’ve listened to it quite a few times now. Maybe I’ll give details on my opinion song by song, and maybe I won’t. The world may never know.

I’m debating on what to do with the Pendant. It might go on my keychain or backpack or something along those lines.

I haven’t been amazed by the singles that were released recently. In listening to them I feel like in some ways Lady Gaga is trying too hard, and in other ways she’s not trying hard enough. She’s popular enough now that she can pretty much do whatever and not suffer for it. With that being said, I’m not saying they aren’t catchy songs either. I won’t let that stop me from listening to the album and making a decision then.

When I saw that the album was $0.99 on today’s Amazon MP3 daily deal I went ahead and grabbed it. I enjoyed her other albums so I’m hoping I’ll enjoy this one too.

Per Amazon: “Born This Way” is the Amazon MP3 Daily Deal. The Daily Deal price is just $0.99. This price is valid May 23, 2011 only.

I haven’t had a chance to listen to the album yet but hopefully it’ll be good.

Let me know what YOU think. I’m sure somewhere along the way I’ll do the same thing.

May 202011

I picked up the Travis Barker album, Give The Drummer Some when it was released. I had heard about it through Tech N9ne, featured in the song “Raw Shit”. You know which song on the album is my favorite.

It’s that raw shit
That’ll start a mosh pit
Head bangers get to spazzin’ out
And be like, “Aww shit.”

This song is fucking ear candy.

Today I saw the album was the Amazon MP3 store deal of the day. It’s an awesome album in my opinion, but especially for less than $4.
If you don’t already have it, check it out.
